Positive News For the Construction Industry
Posted on May 10, 2010 under Construction News |Could it finally be that the slump in the construction industry is coming to an end? Possibly! The largest USA building material makers have reported an increase in monthly sales. Apparently though it has not spread throughout the entire industry…yet. Vulcan Materials Company and Cemex SAB reported sales increases in March and April. These are the first such increases since the year 2006. Cemex is the biggest U.S. cement producer and Vulcan Materials is the number one gravel supplier, so these reports are very encouraging. Reports are preliminary but it is possible that April’s numbers were significantly better. This turnaround is not as clear for companies such as Pulte Group Inc. and wallboard maker USG Corp. Both companies continue to lose money. Many industry experts feel a recovery will probably be slow for most companies to experience a rebound. However, this information is certainly a good sign.
